Case 1: Working capital optimisation for a commodities tradi

Customer Profile


A private commodities company with an annual turnover of $10M; and operating locations in Kazakhstan and Russia.



The client company required a quick improvement in trading operations and working capital. The business struggled to cover suppliers due to the high volatility of the commodity prices and delayed accounts receivable.



To find out discrepancies along the business value chain and reorganise current arrangements to improve the operating cash flow management.



A team was set up to identify and forecast market conditions that caused volatility in commodity prices, helping the customer to hedge against future instabilities. Along with the accounting department, the team analysed working capital flows and came up with a set of ideas to improve existing discrepancy between payable and receivable accounts.



The team increased operating profits by 4% through renegotiating commodity price contracts from variable to fixed rate, and improved working capital by 23% through implementing a debtor-restructuring programme that reduced accounts receivable by 12 days. 

Case 2: Profit and loss control automation

Customer Profile


Trading house with annual turnover of €20 million; Location – Brno, Czech Republic.



The customer is trading house that generally keeps large stocks of goods in. Goods kept in stores are linked to a number of different LME indices, and the Customer faces the risk of implying extraordinary costs in case if certain index drops below the level at which the goods were purchased.



Minimise the risk of ending up with obsolete stock and generate greater margins by reducing the costs.



Warehouse management system has been standardised and automated using in-house developed software solution. In addition to that an algorithm has been deployed that identifies the risk level based on the set of accountancy ratios that allows the customer to optimise their warehouse stock levels on the flight.



Customer managed to improve profit margins by 50% and reduced the risk of building up obsolete stock.

Case 3: Private investment arrangement

Customer Profile


A consortium of private equity and institutional investors from North and South America, with $2.3B of total asset under management.



A group of private and institutional investors required a professional advice on identifying a solid investment opportunity in the US agricultural sector, seeking internal rate of return (IRR) of 20%-25%. 



To provide the customer with a detailed and rigorous investment research on the US agricultural sector; to assist in identifying a suitable investment opportunity and portfolio




Our partner led a team of three analysts to comply a list of eighteen investment targets based on but not limited to financial metrics such as EBITDA growth, market position, leverage capital level and cash flow management. Investment targets were compared using the following valuation techniques: comparable companies method, discounted cash flow (DCF) and leveraged buyout (LBO) analysis, and projecting 5-year operating performance. 



The customer was provided with a comprehensive analysis on the most suitable investment targets. As a result, our managing partner participated in facilitating a $3.2B leveraged buyout bid for a US-listed multinational agricultural supplier.
